I moved out of my house last month. My roomate ended up staying and found someone to take my room. my landlord told me he would withhold our deposit until my old roomate and his new roommates signed a new rental agreement. They signed a new rental agreement last week and now my landlord is saying he had the old (my) deposit roll into the new rental agreement so I have to now collect money from the new renters. What he’s saying doesn’t sound legal at all. What can I do?
