I am trying to match up ceiling texture for some repairs I did to the ceiling. The guy at Lowes told me to mix plaster of Paris with paint and use a masonry trowel to press and pull it off. I am not sure if this is the best way or not! Here is a picture of the texture I'm trying to match. Unsure what kind of texture it is...stipple...knockdown before flattened...idk!
