We are moving out of state. His relocation package will pay for moving just about anything we want to take.
We also have accumulated stuff that isn't special enough, doesn't fit, is unnecessary cold weather gear, etc. to pay to have moved to Texas.
We can call the Salvation Army to come pick it up when we are ready. That solves the issue of storage or moving it. I'm also sure we will be taking the standard deduction* on our 2019 taxes, so there is no financial benefit to us for donation.
Is that the best solution, or is there a side hustle angle to getting rid of stuff? Are yard sales/moving sales ever worth it? Does anybody even do that anymore?
- We have closed our small business, we aren't going to have a full year's mortgage interest, and I understand that the relocation package may affect his income this year.
