Long time listener, first time caller. I hope this doesnt violate any rules. I wanted to share this method I've found for removing thinset left over after removing a tile floor. I hope someone else finds this useful.I pulled up a cracked and broken tile floor and was struggling with removing all of the left over thinset using a floor scraper. I found a blog online where someone used a diamond cup wheel (typically used for grinding down concrete) with a hand grinder to remove the thinset. The setup I used was a vacuum shroud, a harbor freight hand grinder, and the diamond cup wheel. I gave it a shot and the results were stunning. It took me around 40 minutes to finish a roughly 100 sq.ft area. Here is a link to pictures showing the before, the setup on the hand grinder, and the results. Dont mind the necked tape attaching the shopvac to the shroud. I couldnt find an adapter so I made due. I was amazed that it produced a smooth and clean subfloor with zero gouging and minimal dust.http://bit.ly/2vRuScj here is the entire setup (minus the hand grinder) I ordered from amazon. https://amzn.to/2PYvqGv the $18.99 4.5" grinder from harbor freight, it cost me roughly $50 for the setup. Worth every penny. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2WyVsCY
