I talked to my SO and I have the go ahead to get half of a cow. I bought one in the past and it worked out excellent. I had grass fed beef on hand without having to run to the store every time I wanted to cook. The farmer I'm buying the cow from lets me pick the cuts of meat that I want, brings the cow to slaughter, and packages it. When I get the beef, it will be already wrapped and ready to go in the freezer. Last time I got plenty of steaks, roasts, and ground beef. I got soup bones, also.

Also this is the time of the year that the local farm enrolls CSA shares for summer vegetables. I signed up for 10 weeks of vegetables to be delivered near my work.

Summer vegetables include: Blueberries, Cantaloupes, Corn, Crowder Peas, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green Beans, Greens (Collard And Mustard), Kale, Lady Peas, Okra, Peaches, Peppers (hot), Peppers (sweet), Watermelon, Pink-Eye Purple Hull Peas, Pinto Beans, Potatoes (Irish & White), Radishes, Red Beans, Salad Mix, Snap Beans, Speckled Butter Beans, Squash, Strawberries, Sweet Onions, Tomatoes, Turnips, Zucchini

I will be getting high quality meat and vegetables from local farmers. It feels good to shop local and get great quality. I'm already looking forward to making meals with the beef and farm fresh veggies. The deep freezer is being delivered tomorrow!
