A while back I posted a question about building a simple foundation for a shed. I completed the shed and it's been working great for storage (pics). However, I still haven't built the ramp/platform connecting the shed to my driveway (it needs to cover this area) which will allow me to easily drive my motorcycle in and out.I was planning on building something like this: 1, 2, 3This design uses two pieces of 4x8 plywood, nine 8-foot 2x6 boards, and 16 concrete deck blocks. I was planning on using pressure-treated lumber and plywood since this platform would sit near the ground. Looking online, if I go this route, the plywood sheets, boards, and deck blocks are about $60, $10, and $7.50 each, respectively. This would bring the total cost of the project to around $330.I was wondering if anyone could suggest any materials that might be cheaper. The two main concerns I have are (a) the wood being too close to the ground, and (b) rainwater hitting the top surface of the plywood. Is pressure-treated wood necessary for this? Are there cheaper options like coating the wood in something weather-resistant? I'm not very knowledgeable in this area. I used pressure-treated wood for the base of the shed to be safe but I'm hoping there might be a cheaper alternative. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2FPpMSK
