As investors, one of the most important things we can prepare for is inflation (or deflation)

I am curious as to what everyone thinks will happen over the next 50 years to the buying power of the USD. Prices have risen 7x(about 4%) over the last 50 years. If we hit the 2% per year goal of inflation prices will increase 2.7x.

While recently inflation has been muted, I see no reason why inflation should remain lower over the long term and I fall back on the historical data. That leads me to believe there will be a 7x increase in prices over the next 50 years.

What do you all think?
