Here is the breakdown:
ENTERTAINMENT
Cancelled Comcast and am using an HDTV Antennae. No other subscriptions like Netflix/Hulu/etc. I am only using free Apple TV apps like CBS Live:
$112/month
Stopped buying the physical NY Times newspaper on weekends and now read leftovers at cafe's when available or just internet on my cellphone/laptop:
$39/month ($3/Sat, $6/Sun)
DRIVING
NOTE: Stopped driving my car regularly and take a shuttle to work. Basically drive less than 1 hour/week on average.
Switched from Allstate to Geico and got the lowest legal limit for monthly in CA:
$82/month
Gas:
200/month
Oil Changes(synthetic):
$15/month
Work Food/Rituals
Buying Morning Coffee(Mon-Fri before work, still buy on weekends):
$65/month
Buying lunch at work:
$151/month
What things have you all done to optimize your monthly finances ?
EDIT: left standard food out because it is an outlier. I used to average $758/month (Whole Foods prepared meals for dinner every night, expensive booze, etc) but got it down to $346/month(Generic store brands, no food waste anymore, cheaper beer)
Other food: $412/month
Real total: $1076/month
Has been this way for months and don't feel any less happy in life.
