I switched jobs about a month ago. I knew about Cobra but didn’t know enough to make a smart decision. Thought I would switch insurance the day I started. But enrollment isn’t for another 11 days.
Wife was in a horrible accident. She was 8 months pregnant. They were going to life flight her to U of M but decided against it.
They took baby as soon as they saw the signs of heartbeat but baby was born still birth.
Wife is looking to have full recovery and doing absolutely amazing for what happened
The accident happened as follows: she was driving down a 2 lane rural 55mph highway. And from the opposite direction a semi swerved into her lane to avoid a stopped car turning left into his driveway. I do not have the official police report but I talked to the officer and confirmed this.
Two wonderful people helped her immediately and stayed with her while the ambulance came. She stayed conscious the entire time and recognized me over the Bluetooth (the whole thing happened shrike I was on the phone with her). Driving a GMC Acadia. All airbags were deployed and she came out with broken femurs, broken arm, Foot and clavicle. She is stable and looking absolutely stupendous. She is going to make a full recovery thank God.
We have full coverage on the auto and I’m in between with no cobra for health insurance. I come from a smart financially somewhat wealthy family. I told the hospital initially that I was in between. No worries on care so far. I have two close friends who are amazing attorneys. Just not sure about the medical coverage and my options.
My company reached out and are going to look into whatever they can do to help.
Any advice is appreciated thank you
