I work for a consulting firm and my department has not gotten work in a few weeks. I came to work like usual for a couple weeks and did nothing, but still got paid. The higher ups started noticing and told me and the one other person in my department to leave, and only come back once our manager found work for us. That was on Tuesday. My boss gave me a few small projects on Wednesday and Thursday, so I got paid for 5 hours total those days. I haven’t worked since.
Obviously I can start looking for other jobs, but I really do like this one. It pays well, benefits are great, etc. and given that it took me 5 months to get this one, I’m not sure that I could find one quickly anyway. Unemployment isn’t an option when I’m still technically employed and getting benefits.
Sorry if this doesn’t fit the sub, I’m not sure where would be more appropriate.
