As the title says, recently I tried putting in metal anchors to hold my screws into what I think is a plaster wall with mesh (please correct me if I'm wrong here..). I ran into trouble though when the metal anchor wouldn't screw in any further and I came across something that you can see in the picture. Looks like.. metal? I do not know the composition of the walls because this is apparently something my landlord does not know either.So I'm wondering if I am using the right materials for hanging shelves here (see below) and what is the obstruction I came across.
