Little background: I am a chronic procrastinator and have basically refused to accept responsibility for my personal finances. Haven't filed in 6 years and am now being bombarded with letters from the IRS and local state revenue. I've been working primarily as an independent contractor and just never spent the time to learn how to file taxes(smart I know). Its coming to a head and now I need to act and change my ways. I was planning on calling one of those numbers that advertise helping people with back taxes so I can get them consolidated, but I really have no idea what I'm doing. This whole thing has been weighing on me for years and I finally am confronting it and its quite overwhelming.
What should I do? I'm so lost its embarrassing. Thanks in advance to any kind souls that should reply.
