I am about to graduate and start my job search. I have a degree in one field but I am highly trained in a specific, related field that pays much more. The salary for the field I have my degree in is around 50k to 60k but starting in the other field is 80k and can go up to 120k. The problem is that there are a lot less jobs in the high paying field. I know if I start to look for jobs, I will get one relatively quickly in the field I have my degree in but should I hold out for a job in the higher paying field?
My dad seems to think I should try to make as much starting as possible because it will set the trajectory for the rest of my career. He is willing to pay for all my expenses until I get a job but I’m worried it might take at least six months to a year to land a job in that field. Any advice?
