I'm a little distraught! After months of my ex making sure our cats had the best litter possible, usually dropping $10-15 on a bag of whatever fancy pine, or pellet, or walnut litter we could find, I decided after we split (I am keeping the cats for the time being) that I had to cut my budget significantly. And I found that, believe it or not, the cats don't care what they poop onto.
Dollar Tree sold $1.00 bags of kitty litter that resembled gravel but it worked better than any of the fancy shit I'd been buying for months. And now I have checked two of my local Dollar Trees to restock, and an employee confirmed that they no longer carry the product.
I remember the product in my head clearly - it was about a 12" high bag, bright orange, with a gray stitch seal across the top. I think it had a gray cartoon cat on the front with yellow text. And seriously, it was only $1.00, so I could buy 4 bags and change the litter for each of my two boxes every two weeks. $4/mo. I'm determined to find it somewhere else.
Any thoughts, or alternatives?
