Here's my story. My household has 3 vehicles: 2013 SUV, 2000 van, and 1997 sedan. The van and sedan are well maintained and I still consider them reliable as a daily driver. I got into a car accident in the SUV where the other driver T-boned me on the driver side. Side airbags deployed which prevented my head from smashing the side window. I got a concussion, but I am confident my head injuries would have been pretty severe if it wasn't for the airbags. My 1997 and 2000 vehicles do not have side airbags.
I now am paranoid about the lack of safety features in my old vehicles.
