Never heard of moneygram prior to this lease. Looked it up and immediately got bombarded by hundreds of negative reviews and experiences. Even the moneygram website themselves states buying items online with it is a bad idea.

I've read peoples describing getting scammed by basically the same type of person I've been in contact with, with almost the exact same back story. Landlord is out of state and wishes to receive security deposit before sending the keys to the property.

However here I have a lease in front of me, digital only, and I am wondering if that somehow makes the situation more legitimate? Or does it make it even worse? If he pretends to not have received the money am I in trouble?

Super green when it comes to renting or buying any type of home and I am anxious that I potentially got real close to getting myself scammed.
