We had switched from geico to costco home insurance last year that saved us about $200. Today geico auto renewed our auto policy for $799/6mo. I decided that was bs and called in costco for their quote and they got my premium reduced to $510 with better coverage and some better perks(road side assist).
I then called back to geico and canceled their plan, starting costco plan tomorrow. And since now my auto and home are in the same place (Ameriprise) I get another $50 off my home policy as well.
Always compare and call, $500 is good chunk of money, especially when put into investments.
