We talk a lot about what we're doing right, but I'm curious about what we do wrong.
What are some hard lessons you've learned while trying to reduce your spending or otherwise live less wastefully?
Examples for me:
-Getting cheaper tires that ended up costing more than the good ones because they reduced my fuel economy.
-I'm not sure I'm saving any significant amount of money using a pressure canner vs my deep freezer (though there are definite pros/cons to each). My dehydrator, OTOH, has saved bits and scraps that I can use in soup later (and for meals when I go backpacking), so I'm still working out kinks on the food preservation front. Bonus on the dehydrator: you can usually get them at the thrift shop for under $20. Water bath canners (fruits, tomatoes, and other high acid foods) you can probably make out of the pots you currently have or pick up at the thrift shop for cheap.
-Simply not following through on plans/projects. Lackadaisical meal prep is my biggest offender.
