Long commutes are a reality where I live and I use to listen to the radio or podcasts while driving. I found radio to be too vapid and there weren't enough quality podcasts I liked that covered the long drive each day.
I ended up getting an Audible account that was about $15/month. With it you get one credit for a book each month, with additional books available for purchase at various book prices.
I ended up going through my first book in a week, but found it unsustainable to purchase $20-$30 books each week to listen to and only enjoy once. I cancelled my account during my free trial. (BTW, if Audible works for you, when I cancelled they asked my why, I selected price, and the website offered me three months for just $5/month.)
I ended up getting a free library account at my local library, downloading the OverDrive app to my phone, and setting it up with my library account. Now I can check out audiobooks from my library's online collection and download them instantly to my phone to listen to. I get new books whenever I want, right from my phone, at any time.
The only downside I've come across are some books I want aren't in my library's OverDrive collection or are already checked out. Luckily, in addition to my local library, my work (military) has their own library system too. I signed up for a library account with them and added it to the app. They have different books and some books on hold at one place are available on the other.
