Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find an answer online. I'm an idiot with DIY.I live in an old building, yet the walls seem very thick and solid - not brick, but not plaster, don't think it's concrete. I mounted some stuff on the wall (ironing boad/shelves), and drilling them in went with expected resistance. However, I the mouns can be pulled straight out with almost no force. I'm pretty sure the size of the rawlplugs/hole/screw are ok, as I have to hammer the plug in the fit is so snug. The wall material is then a little crumbly where there is a hole. Seems there is nothing for the plug to grip to?I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong, or if this is just the walls here. I want to mount an anchor point for a suspenstion trainer/TRX but don't trust putting my weight on it at all given the result. Would a piece of wood inbetween the mount and wall create a stronger hold? Any ideas as to what I can change would be greatly appreciated. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2HdJP18
