To make this short, I had started a new job of December 2017 as a trash man for my city. I got injured right after President's day, bulged disc which caused sciatica. I was out of work for 3 months. I was only back on the job for a week before choosing to resign since I lost all of my physical therapy progress and ending up getting two epidurals.
Anyway, I went back to my old job since I left on good terms. I was basically part time until I felt good enough to do full time again. I was being paid in cash for about 3 months, totaling $3576. I went about half a year without a real paycheck since my city decided it wasn't a work injury even though it happened on the job. My union set me up with a good workers comp lawyer and they settled my case for a nice amount which was tax free.
I use the free version of turbo tax to file if that matters. I'm sure they have a section for that but this would be my first time reporting cash and I don't want to mess it up. I have a few grand saved up in case I have to owe taxes this year.
