So yup, I am another one of I'm sure many a few years back that fell victim to a friend of mine selling me insurance I simply don't need, at least in this point of my life. How it all went down is one day when I was back visiting my family I get a call from a high school friend who I haven't talked to in years. So they out of the blue decided to call me to meet up with me over lunch and talk about my life goals and the like. Little did I know that this would be a sales pitch for products from Northwestern Mutual... (facepalm)
So now I've been paying them for 2 years (last payment was this past September) and I just simply don't need this. Yes, I get it, companies like these work off of commissions, but who in their right mind thinks that (at the time) a fresh graduate out of college needs things like disability and/or life insurance? I know I sure as heck don't.
I have now since discontinued any autopay to the account. Is there anything else I need to do, like say call up their customer service and tell them that I'd like to cancel my policy?
