Hi all.

For reasons that can be bypassed for the sake of staying on topic, my father needs to be involuntarily committed. He and my mom, who is currently in school pursuing a degree to become a medical assistant, are living paycheck to paycheck. I no longer live at home, but my two brothers who are seniors in high school depend on them.

My mom and I are afraid that unless drastic intervention takes place, things will take a turn for the worst. However, because he is on unfavorable terms with his current job, we fear that he will be let go after his hospital release. Also, he controls all of the finances, so my mom wouldn’t even know where to start to pay the bills even if he was still able to collect a paycheck. To add even more to the mix, a large portion of his salary is based on commission so even if he were to utilize PTO, he would still miss out on that aspect of his income.

Also, we get our health insurance through the healthcare marketplace. I’m afraid if there is a missed payment on that, we will lose our health insurance.

I’m a college student and really don’t know where to start with this. If anyone could offer guidance, I would be immeasurably grateful.
