So my wife wanted me to originally buy a bookcase to fill a wall in our family room, and of course I said I would just build her one (very little woodworking skills fyi and never any time). Well, never had time to build it until over the holidays when I actually found free time (and a bunch of new tools that I bought myself for this project as an excuse [one can never have enough tools]). Turned out pretty good, learned a bunch of new skills, and now have a MUCH larger list of items that I need to build for my wife..haha.Garage before starting to cut all the woodGot the Basic Structure in placeCut some shelves and did some test fitsGot the bottom shelves done and nailed in placeGetting the center area trimmed outMore shelves in placeMy son testing it out [fyi, he had already climbed all over it by this point]Got the far left side onGot the upper and lower face in place, about to install the vertical facesGot all the face boards in placeGot it primed with an oil based primer [the wall behind will be painted so not too concerned with it getting painted here]Got the first coat applied and back wall paintedGot all the caulking doneGot the TV mounted and lights testedStarting to put things on the shelvesMy son testing out his chair by the finished bookcaseGarage needing cleanup [FYI, this has been cleaned up already and the wife can park in the garage again]Items still to do:- Need to finish touching up the wall beside the left side of the bookcase where the paint went too far- Need to fix some rough patches, sand again, and repaint- Need to fix some of the spacing between the wall and the bookcase on the back- Need to fix the caulking on the far right side bottom [Thanks to my son poking holes in it and laughing] via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2RrKeki
