My apartment has this outlet: https://ift.tt/2UX9Apa an older dryer with a 3 prong cable. I swapped it out with a 4 prong dryer cable, having only noticed the outlet at a glance. When I went to plug in, I realized that this outlet was something different entirely. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to find out that the center hole is just for a cap to fit in and that this was a 'range' outlet. I had to look up what a range was. I'm not that handy...Anyways, the landlord at my new home won't replace the outlet but has given me permission to hire an electrician to do it. It would be cheaper and easier if I could use a range cable, but I don't want to start any fires. Looking for advice, and will likely have followup questions. Thanks in advance! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Agg35Z
