Like the to title says, our house has oak flooring in the living room. We are installing LVP over the top of it. See note below. It’s a floating floor and just needs to have a level base. When we bought this house, a month ago or so, it had a built in entertainment center in the living room that was straight from the 70’s. We removed it. The last time or two this floor has been refinished, they obviously went around the entertainment center. There is a defined 1/4” height difference now.How should I tackle dropping about 12sqft of oak hardwood floor a 1/4”? Sand it? I’m thinking a 6” Random Orbital won’t cut it. Do I need to rent a floor sander for an afternoon? Can I use a planer?Ideas?Note: I know, I know... but we have 6 inside dogs, four of which are over 100lbs and the other two are over 50lbs. LVP is the only thing that will hold up to them and that is from our personal experience. We could refinish the floor, and would love to, but the reality is our dogs would obliterate it quickly. At least this way, the floor is still there, still in tact and can be brought back to life in the future if we decide. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2zSsg0q
