Some background on myself I am a 19m Albertan with no degrees to speak of, or courses completed.

I work for a landscaping company, and I should be due for a raise here in the spring as I got a recent promotion but was moved to a retainer/salary for winter when I was hourly in the summer.

The reason I am posting is because my landlord has mentioned he plans on raising rent from $500 to $650/Month and although that would not be a deal breaker on its own I'm looking at getting more space by moving either alone or to a roommate situation w/ a garage. I don't know much about financial planning my current monthly expenses break down like this:

Rent:$500

Insurance:$350

Long term/ Retirement:$150

Phone:$80

Food: $350-$400

Fuel: $150 (may be covered by work in coming weeks)

My monthly Income on my retainer for snow removal is $2300 Cad and ends up around $2000 after taxes. In the summer I make around $2600 after taxes. My concern is that the apartments I have seen run from $800 to $1000 (with utilities) and I'm afraid to spread myself too thin. I would also like to take some courses next fall while working and would like to balance out savings for that as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated I wouldn't be moving until spring and would like to use my damage deposit to give me an extra month to move easier.
