Hey all, novice woodworker here.My brother is in the wine business and got this really nice wine box that he was trying to make into a side table (not necessarily for holding wine). Unfortunately he's not really handy and is super busy, so his plan was to just screw it down onto a flimsy $15 snack table and be done with it. He also wanted to put a plexiglass top (pictured above with covering paper on) that can slide, but couldn't figure out how. Since I have done a few projects on my own now, I wanted to see if I could make it into a better table for him.My main two questions are:How do I mount the plexiglass on top so it slides on and off? I was thinking I could make some sort of rails that are fixed to the top of the wine box so the plexiglass could slide in. I have a palm router so maybe I could plunge through a strip of wood (maybe 1x1ish) to make the rails? But how would I adhere it to the box other than glue? What are your thoughts and recommendations about how to mount this/make it into a side table? Again I've done a few projects but I really don't want to mess this one up with a bad idea or bad planning since I'm still in the early stages. For reference, it's is 16" W x 14" L x 6.25" H. Obviously I could buy some coffee table legs and just screw it down but that feels too simple. I like ideas with a bottom shelf, although I'd use wood and not make it industrial style. I have a circular saw, jigsaw and Kreg pocket hole jig so I could probably make that work fairly well. I've looked at tons of ideas on Google and most center around barstool type legs (angled cylinders) or hairpins, neither of which I am excited about. Thanks everyone! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2zlL088
