This was destined for the scrap heap, nearly every piece destined for rot, all taken saved from my uncle's farm. The farm is essentially abandoned as he is in assisted living for the last two years and the bank is in the process of repossessing the farm. I grew up working on this farm, and it breaks my heart to see it like this.I wanted to save what little I could. Old tourney boxes, shop shelves, half finished projects, and forgotten initiatives each scavenged for their worth and made into something new. 80% of the wood on this is salvaged from my Uncle's farm with the exception being some 2x4s in the farm and a few pieces in the backboard. What I created is not fine carpentry by any means, in fact much of the was crooked and fought me the entire time. That said I feel like I let the materials speak their nature and are beautiful. This project was exceptionally cathartic for me. Working through the pain and loss of a farm I loved, and that I always hoped to keep as part of my life. Poring a little more of myself into this project as a way of processing the years of work and memory that are lost with the farm.I hope you enjoy the album and some of the side by sides of the materials throughout the process.https://imgur.com/a/btubxQZ via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2F2mSNh
