Howdy Ya'll!

I was bored after work tonight and decided to create an Excel spreadsheet to get ready for 2019! I recently moved out of my parents house and wanted to ensure I could keep track of my money. It started out as a small journal but blossomed into a computer program I am addicted to using.

I moved out four months ago with the only goal in mind of not relying on my parents for money. Don't get me wrong, I have a wonderful relationship with my parents. But I didn't want to rely on them for finances. I'm going to school on my dime. I'm working full time. But I never wanted to spend too much and ask for help when I spent $200 at a casino. So I decided (the night I moved in lol) to create a spreadsheet in Excel to forecast my expenses. It originally started as a tool to track how much money I would have before pay day. Two weeks per paycheck is a lot different than having cash per night as a server. So I took it upon myself to create a crude spreadsheet to track my future bills.

But each time I plugged in numbers or tracked my tobacco habits, I yearned for something better! Something to track asset-liability ratio. Something to show how much I would have after the cat vet bill. Something to show how much I could spend on a date.

So I created this lovely tool.

It tracks income and expenses for each month. Totals them into quarters and then gives me a final net income for the year. Going into 2019 I knew one thing for certain: what my base paycheck would be. The future value is fantastic! If I work overtime or get a raise I would still follow this baseline so I would live within my means.

I also track my equity. My goal by the end of 2019 is to diminish the hill of debt I have accumulated throughout my teenage years. My dad always said "you make what you measure". So I created the spreadsheet to help me measure my debt so I will vanquish it!

Any thoughts to improve this tool would be more than recommended! I am going to school for accounting and would love any feedback from you experts!

Thanks again!
