Y’all,
This is my first job so that’s why I’m not well versed. I started on Monday, I’m paid hourly and the company pays its employees every other week. The next pay day is tomorrow, Friday and the next next one is 2 weeks from tomorrow. My manager told me that she’s not sure I’ll get paid tomorrow at all because the paycheck is generally for the last 2 weeks worked and I will have only worked one. I asked my husband about his first days at the job and he said that payday was basically 2-3 days after his start date and he got paid for the hours worked until then.
So, I’m asking if it’s just my manager not knowing for sure or if it’s common practice to not pay new hires until they have 2 weeks worked? I’m just a bit concerned because that means no pay for 3 weeks, until December 14. Is this how it’s supposed to work? Thanks!
