This post may not be for everyone, but if you’re a woman who doesn’t mind shopping in the men’s (or youth) section, read ahead.
Just got done shopping at the outlet mall for some much needed sweatpants. Being a woman, I immediately went over to Nike’s women’s side and started perusing. I even looked through clearance and it was still more than I wanted to spend.
I remember reading/hearing somewhere that women’s clothes are often more expensive than men’s (comparing apples to apples, so to speak). To test this out, I went to the men’s side. Sure enough, not only were their prices lower than women’s sweatpants, their discounts were higher! I bought two extremely comfortable sweatpants for $21 each instead of $45 each!
Not only that, but at under armour, even though everything was 40% off, the starting prices for women’s tights were about $50, where the starting prices for youth tights were $35.
I hadn’t gone shopping for clothes outside of Ross for a long time. I was just happy I remembered that women’s clothes are often priced significantly higher than men’s. So next time you’re out shopping, check the men’s side and the youth side if you can. Granted, I know there’s a size difference but for comparison, I normally wear XS in women’s clothes. I can wear a small in men’s (I don’t mind my sweatpants being a little bit bigger.. I think it’s more comfortable), and a youth large.
This can also work for shoes if your feet are on the smaller side. Try a larger size in youth. My friend does this. It’s a pretty easy way to save money if you’re already looking to buy the item anyway.
Thanks for reading.
