I’m 24, ~$100k college debt, couldn’t get a good job with my degree (yet), make about $700/month (it varies) and I pay $444 in student loan bills/month. This is very stressful for me and I’m financially dependent on my dad for all my bills and living. I want to move out ASAP. Basically I need help taking baby steps. My parents haven’t taught me anything in life and I have no clue what the hell Im doing. I want to open up my own bank account that my parents don’t have access to. I’m not sure how a bank account works. Do I have to pay a monthly fee to have one opened? Also should I get a credit card to build a credit score? I’m afraid if I go into the bank and open an account the bankers will scam me out of as much money as possible since I don’t know anything. Any advice is welcomed. Please and thank you.
