I have a raised cupboard (one step up from floor level) in a first floor bedroom of 1920s (UK) house. The plaster walls (note - the plaster is direct onto brick, not board) have a bad mould problem which I first cleaned with soap and treated with bleach/water mix earlier today and is currently drying out.Looking for some advice here on short term (to prevent further mould growth) and long term DIY solutions on making this a useable space (ideally we would like to store clothes on rails and kids toys in here without fear of mould!)The plaster work at the top level on the outer wall of the house has crumbled away due to a roof issue which we have had fixed (entire roof replacement). The remaining plasterwork is in poor condition with various rails/plugs.Below the cupboard there is a small void, beneath that (on ground floor) is the main door of the house (cold) . Above the cupboard is the (cold) loft/attic. Given it’s a bedroom, the room itself is warm - so I assume this is contributing to the problem. There is no ventilation inside of the cupboard either to the attic or via bricks/outside and it has your standard 6 panel internal door on the front.Where on earth do I start? Add a ventilation brick to outside or the attic? Treat the plaster for the mould and then put up boards and skim?Storage Space is becoming an issue in the house so I’d really like to make the space usable!Size wise it’s w35” x d41” x h82”Thanks for any advice in advance via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2BuMkas
