We're doing extensive work on our 110 year old house. We have no subfloors, just original hardwood nailed into joists. We're hoping to keep and refinish them, but need to do something to reduce the noise. We have access to the undersides of the floors because we've torn down all the ceilings on lower levels. My grandfather was an architect and general contractor and he recommends using a type of caulk/foam along the joists underneath the boards (I don't remember the brand). He says that will cushion the boards. My partner is concerned that this will somehow damage the floors by pulling the boards and nails away from the joists. What's the best way to do this?Note: I'm planning on using safe n sound insulation between floors. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2PRscan
