Not sure if /r/personalfinance is the right sub, but I see a lot of other HSA questions on here, so here goes:
Without getting into unnecessary details (if you've ever had hemorrhoids, you'll understand) - a bidet greatly alleviates the pain and symptoms of hemorrhoids.
IRS publication 502 defines medical expenses in part as:
> Medical care expenses must be primarily to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental disability or illness. They don't include expenses that are merely beneficial to general health, such as vitamins or a vacation.
For me, a bidet seat *definitely* alleviates the symptoms of a physical illness. I get that they might sound initially like a luxury item, but it's not a luxury for me, it's a necessity. Just because a product is something that some people choose to buy because they *want* one but don't *need* one - does that somehow disqualify that product from being a qualified HSA expense?
