For some context, I am currently homeless living in my car. I have a 32+ hour a week job but I only get about $170-$213 a week depending on hours. If I can come up with $1500, i can put a down payment down on an apartment with roommates and i wouldn't be living in the car, unfortunately my whole check is gone rather quickly. Here is the breakdown:
Gas:$50-70 a week depending on driving and if i get cold and have to run the car for heat
Food: $35 a week
Student loans: $75 a month
Insurance: $65 a month
Phone: $33 a month
Gym membership: $31 a month (for showers)
Prescriptions: $12 a month
More info: I've applied for secondary 3rd shift jobs, but have not received a call back from anyone. Unfortunately if I try to get another job, it means limiting my availability at my current job and losing hours. I can not go to my family for help and I've exhausted all possible friendships for couch hoping since I've been homeless since June. Only one shelter in the area I'm in and it's for recovering drug addicts or domestic violence victims of which I am neither. Nearest shelter past that is about 15 miles away and is in a really bad part of town and not a place I even want to drive let alone park my car. Cant apply for foodstamps because they need an address which I cant provide.
