I'm doing some fall cleaning as I'm finally getting rid of some stuff that followed me through my move this last year. As I was organizing my closet, I was looking at some of my plastic tubs side by side.
I have newer tubs from Sterilite that are maybe 2 years old and the lids are are cracked and bending.
Right next to them I have a set of Rubbermaid Roughneck tubs. These were tubs my mom bought for my toys nearly 25 years ago. They carried my childhood toys all throughout my childhood. Got drug outside in the mud, drug up and down stairs, have had incredibly heavy stuff stacked and dropped on them, have been dropped down the stairs and aside from some scratches in the plastic and the color being faded they are in perfect condition. These tubs range from small rubbermaid tubs to large ones that can hold a ton of legos.
Looking through the rest of my tubs, all my Roughneck Tubs are in great condition.
I looked them up and I noticed these tubs cost a bit more than your standard tubs from Target but judging by the quality, they last! All the ones I have that are still in great quality specifically say "Rubbermaid Roughneck" on them. I can't speak to the quality of their other products.
I wanted to share this for you all in case you are looking at storage tubs and are thinking about getting the cheap ones. Spend the extra money, the Rubbermaid Roughneck ones last forever.
Edit: As someone pointed out, they got bought out by Newell. Still I stand by it, if you can find their older stuff, it will last forever. Garage sales and the Goodwill are great for finding it.
