https://ift.tt/2CLY2P1 house was at one time built as a completely wood-sided home. A few years later it would seem, someone had it mostly covered with large sandstone. Unfortunately, they didn't use any brick-ties or any method of attaching the facia to the walls and did not flash it either. as a result, it has slowly started peeling away from the walls over the years on the exposed sides of the house. You can see in the pictures that the rock is already significantly detached from the walls and at this point needs to be removed entirely to avoid it eventually falling on it's own and so the siding underneath can be replaced. The two-story tall portions are the biggest question marks on how to remove them safely since the entire wall could try to come down at once. The larger stones could easily weigh as much as 100lb each.My thought was to first cover the 2 windows with plywood and then rent an extendable boom truck basically to get access to the 2nd story and stay out of the "fall zone". Working with a hammer drill to break up the mortar and let the stones fall to the ground below. Once the 2nd story was gone, the 1st story could be completed similarly but with less risk. Then I'd need to rent a bobcat or something to transport the stones to the front yard where presumably I'd find someone to pick them up and haul them away.Any help would really be appreciated. No contractor will touch this thing, and the siding is so brittle you can put your finger through it. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2qeOEMk
