I am sorry if this information is readily available somewhere else. I am typically a lurker who will keep searching until I find the information instead of creating a post asking for it, but I am not in my right state of mind and am being pressed from all sides by people wanting answers.
My wife was killed in a hit-and-run this weekend while training for a half-marathon. I am in my 20s. We didn't talk about finances that much. We have a joint account for bills, travel, and other joint things, but we mostly kept our finances separate. I know she finished paying off her student loans between 6-12 months ago. I highly doubt she had any other debt because she was very good at saving money, but I want to make sure.
We also didn't really talk about retirement accounts. She was a teacher and changed schools a couple times as we moved, and she changed from teaching middle school to college. I am not sure what to do to locate any accounts she may have.
