Hello,I’m needing a little bit of advice on how to go about this issue. I currently live in a basement converted living space in my parent’s house. A couple of days ago, the water line going to the toilet, in the upstairs space came loose and water began pouring out. No one was home at the time so the water flowed through the floors and down into my room. We'd love to get a professional out to do the fix but my parents are currently on a fixed income and they told me that their insurance won’t cover the damages. And well, I live in the basement of my parent’s house so that should give you an idea of my financial situation. My brother and I decided that we can try to DIY the damage ourselves. Our plan was to rip out the ceiling drywall and carpet. Then I was planning on pointing a bunch of fans at the wood to help it dry. My concern was that since I live in the basement (with a 2 kids), I didn’t want any mold to grow over the next few months. After I “treat” the wood under the drywall, we’d get new drywall up and hardwood floors. I head that the purple board drywalls are better at resisting mold so I'll go with that.My question is - does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to help eliminate any mold growth in the wood? I’ve had success with Zinsser Mold Killing Primer on some back walls and thought I might be able to do the same to the wood but there are so many small wood pieces, I would only be able to get one side and mold might grow on the other side. I’ve read some sites suggest spraying mold down with vinegar. Just not sure where to go from here.TLDR: water damage from upstairs. Trying to DIY new ceiling but scared mold might grow. How what for can I do?Ceiling: https://ift.tt/2MTQsTL up: https://ift.tt/2xJrguz in advanced!!! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2xy2zks
