Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit to talk about stuff like this. I've just seen some really helpful, outside-the-box thinking and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for me. This is a throwaway.

I'm 23, working an entry-level comms job after getting BA in English. It's not ideal, and not as creative as I'd like. Mostly pencil-pushing tasks and stressful office politics. Been here over a year.

Still have a hefty student loan sum to pay off. Looking at 8ish years at this rate. Currently live w/ family and not sure if I should move out (unless I can get a job good enough to pay loans and rent, I feel kinda stuck here).

Live near a big city, but it seems like many employment opportunities are highly digital/compsci/tech-oriented nowadays. I don't want to learn web design or coding as a means to an end.

Importantly, I am highly skilled in English communication, creative thinking, proper/technical writing, and some journalism/design work (i.e. newsletters, bulletins, writing articles via Adobe InDesign, etc.).

My true passions, though, are in the arts. I play some piano, and I have been drawing every day for 200 days, trying to improve. It sounds amateurish, and it is, but I find that I have the time and money for lifelong pursuits that mean a lot to me. I know I can't make money off of these right now, but if I keep at it, who knows. I would love to one day be a part of a team that makes something only highly-skilled artists can: an animated series, or a film, or something like that.

I have also written two novels in the past year. I have put in a lot of legwork in trying to get them traditionally published (~100 query letters combined) but unfortunately have had no luck. That has been difficult to endure. I really love my work, and have been writing since I was a young kid. I probably am just not too great at the marketing side of things.

I'm wondering if anyone sees any options available to me that I should consider. Again, I am employed currently, but want to see some growth, take some steps to better myself, and move toward a more creative/rewarding career that I will actually enjoy excelling in. Thank you very much for reading.
