I'm a 21 year old college student training as an automotive technician and feel like I need to switch fields. Since I was 19 I've put in nearly $1000 every month into blue chip stocks and ETFs. While not a lot, I've come to an average gain of 20% annually. Maybe I got lucky, but I feel like I could do more. If I build up enough capital and have the smarts on when and where to place it, I could invest in real estate, start up and fund businesses. Im interested in taking this in as a career rather than just a way to efficiently save up money. But then again I just be a naive kid with delusions of a different future. Could anyone doing this professionally send me back to reality and share what it's like, and how you've got to this point?
