Our relationship with money can be so varying, across a spectrum where on one end may hold extreme greed and on the other end, we may think money is evil. But like it or not, we need money to survive and grow. I am trying to a balanced relationship with money, and I would appreciate the perspectives from this subreddit because I think we are all underneath trying to achieve a good relationship with money and finance.

I grew up in a house where money is a big deal. My parents work really hard to secure money. They have fought over money. Personally, as I am typing this, I think perhaps my relationship with money was partly influenced by how the subject of money has caused my own parents so much grief and separation.

Today, as a 30 year-old adult, I continue to seek a good relationship with money. I have this - perhaps naive - perception that I can make a ton of money whenever I want, so I do not chase it so actively. I do what I do to get by with the minimum that I need to survive. I know that when I start a family, I will need to make a lot more.

To me, money seems like this stream of electricity that binds all of us who hold onto it. If we do not, we would find it very difficult to survive, unless we farm our own crops and educate our own children. We all need money somehow, so we must grab hold of this stream that carries money. If we are not careful, we become possessed by the electricity that would run through our own system. So in my perspective, it seems like we must know what money can do for our enrichment and what money cannot do. We must know what we can sacrifice for the acquisition of money, and what we must not.

I am sincerely looking forward to learning your thoughts. Thank you.
