In CK’s defense, I had been looking on their website to see if I would be pre-approved. I have great credit (around 790 according to CK) and was buying a car and wanted to see rates.
I got an email this morning from LendingClub saying my application for a personal loan was denied. But I’ve never applied for a personal loan. When I called, they said Credit Karma had applied for me. Meaning, they gave LendingClub all of my personal information, including SSN.
I put a freeze on all three credit reports (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) following. I also submitted an email to CK asking about it. They don’t have a number you can call, which seems odd to me.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything else I need to do, like remove my CK account? Other than this, I’ve loved using it to monitor my accounts and scores.
