Some context: I am diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (type II). I have been to the hospital twice this year with about 180 hours of group therapy and 50 hours of individual therapy. This is something I am taking VERY seriously.

So, there are updates on two different fronts here:

1.) I did genetic testing immediately and got on some serious meds that have helped considerably.

2.) I met with my father and mother and asked them to help me financially. I didn't ask for money, but I asked for their help with my money.

I did a credit freeze which I'm very thankful I did because I was feeling the temptation to buy a new car.

I did not quit my job and sought out a job which was 50% working from home and 50% travel. So, I don't have the rigors of being in an office, and I get to travel which is very calming to me. It's a significant bump in pay as well, which is great to help dig myself out of the 50k worth of debt I've accumulated over the past 1.5 years.

I created a budget for the first time in my life. I think I can do it. I gave my credit cards to my folks and deleted the CC details from my chrome and firefox browsers so I can't autofill on impulse purchases.

I created a teaming plan to eliminate debt while building savings. I can be out of debt by next summer if I stick to my budget which shouldn't be too terribly tough.. I just have to not go out and spend $1300 on bar tabs and eating out every month (I was floored when I actually crunched the numbers on how much I was spending).

I have also set my direct deposit on my current job to send 40% of that income to an account my parents set up. I COMPLETELY trust my folks and have complete faith that my money will be better in their hands than mine until I have a few months of stability. They have seen me through so much garbage... they're truly incredible folks.

I have also enrolled in a financial class at a local church that follows Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University in conjunction with YNAB weekly classes. YNAB is so confusing so it will be good to have guidance on how to use the program to its full potential.

The situation is looking much better than it was, and hopefully my mental health will continue to become more stable. The data from my mood tracker app has been on an upward trend for the last two weeks which is phenomenal to see.

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice on how to set safeguards and advice moving forward.
