I’m 23 and have pretty much messed up my life financially in every way possible. I 100% know it’s my fault, I just don’t know how to get back on top of it all. I got a divorce about two years ago.
I’m behind on almost all of my bills at the moment, I just moved from one base to another and already used almost every kind of advance I could.
I got a vehicle out of the divorce that I cannot afford to drive, and my credit is too low to refinance any further. $511 a month bill, $224 insurance, nearly $150 a month in gas (and I don’t even go anywhere but work, gym, and home).
To top it off, my ex husband quit paying a loan I co-signed on (12,000, about four years ago) while I was deployed and caused my credit score to drop over 100 points nearly overnight, no one contacted me and let me know he stopped paying so it went to collections. Now I have to pay $424 a month ($212 on the modified payment plan) for HIS loan, and there’s nothing I can do about it. He’s trying to declare bankruptcy which will leave me 100% responsible for his loan.
Even bigger kicker! I am 12 weeks pregnant and am just stressed to the max about everything. I love my baby’s father a lot, but he is stationed 8 hours away, and I really don’t want him to know the financial mess I am in. I am also unable to ask any family for help.
If you were in my shoes, what steps would you take to fix this mess? I know I’ve just been irresponsible, and I fixed most of my debt while deployed, but this move has pushed me right back down.
