I recently received documents about my auto and homeowners insurance policy renewal. Geico was increasing my 6 month rate by over $100 to about $760. I was not cool with this so after some searching on this sub someone suggested State Farm or AAA. I checked out both.

State Farm could give me an equivalent policy and save me about 200 per year. AAA HAD a much better offer. I could save about 633 a year on auto and 182 on homeowners. These rates were with a AAA membership so the savings meant the membership effectively cost about 15 bucks. All together it amounted to 750 a year in savings.

I did have to make it in one payment to maximize savings but it goes to show you that it may be worth getting some quotes on your insurance policy. It made it easy to send the declaration documents to the agents so an equivalent quote could be given. Plus now I am a AAA member so hopefully I can get some savings elsewhere.
