We want to install new ceramic tile in our kitchen and bathroom but we found old floor tile under the current floor. Our house was built in 1963, so this old floor probably has asbestos in it.I began removing the tile before I even realized asbestos was used in floor tiles. I’d prefer not to continue removing this floor nor do I want to deal with paying a professional to removed it. Instead I’d like to encapsulate it with a cement backer board. Is this possible to do without compromising the quality of the ceramic tiles we plan on installing? Here’s a photo of the floor https://ift.tt/2wsRWhz things are stuck down hard, the little bit I did remove took some effort and it’s proved difficult to do without taking up chunks of the subfloor. That old adhesive might have asbestos in it too. If I can avoid removing it all I’d prefer to go that route. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2NA3iaE
