it boils down to financial illiteracy. I have a bs in accounting. I wonder what is the best way to help people with finance literacy. I am lost for words because every person I have tried to help even my close friends has ignored my advice. Only two people have actually taken my advice and used it. Among the two one kid is doing extremely well saving for his retirement. The other is an alcoholic who had a lot of debt but with high income. I begged him to save for his retirement. He is compulsive so he and his wife save $60K the first year. It is so agonizing to see friends not do anything about future.
